Gathered by the grace of Jesus Christ, we are a vibrant and supportive Christian family whose welcoming spirit reflects God’s love for all people. We invite participation in all aspects of our church life by persons of every race, language, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, physical or mental ability, economic or marital status, or faith background.

The First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, located at the corner of 9th Street and Greenleaf, is grounded in over 100 years of worship, education, and fellowship and is committed to congregational care, spiritual growth, and institutional engagement addressing the challenges of the 21st century.

Our mission statement is:  Experience God. Grow Disciples. Transform Lives.

We seek to fulfill this mission in common worship, church activities, and our everyday lives, and by embracing inclusivity, generosity, understanding, and advocacy.

We are a neighborhood church striving to cross borders and welcome change. Fifty-one percent of our members have joined in the last 15 years, and we want our ministry to support spiritual development at every stage of life. Our church family has many gifts, and we want to make a renewed effort at both connecting with one another and sharing with others.

At First Pres, participation is grounded in worship and extended through programming and mission. We offer programs throughout the week for fellowship, social support, and spiritual education. Our mission commitment includes supporting homeless families and individuals, mental health and educational services, refugee relief efforts, tutoring and other responses to local needs, and we are blessed by a long-term relationship with the Katawa Church of Central Africa Presbytery in Mzuzu, Malawi.

We hope that, in the music, prayers, and preaching of worship, you will experience something of God’s love, comfort, peace, and call ever more deeply. We hope that, in the shared conversations, cookies and coffee after worship, you will experience the warmth of friendship and fellowship that is central to life in this congregation. We hope that you will find meaningful ways to engage your faith through our enriching and intentional Christian education opportunities. And, we hope that you will find ways to be the hands and feet of Christ as you serve this community and the world God made and loves.

Let us get to know you and let yourself get to know us. We hope this can be a place where your faith can grow and deepen in fresh ways.

Most of all, we hope that you will feel welcome here!
