Dear Friends,

Thank you for being a partner in the ministry and mission of First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. As we move
further into 2017, we remember and celebrate our faithful past and look forward to an exciting God-led future.

For over a century, our church has nurtured and equipped followers of Jesus. We provide a safe, inviting place for
children to learn God’s loving story, a gathering place for inquiring teenagers, and a connecting place for adults to
live a God-centered life. In our beautiful sanctuary we gather as a special family to worship God, share sacred
covenants, and be empowered as God’s people.

We believe that God has big plans for our church in 2017. We sense that his Holy Spirit is active here.

In February the Rev. Jeff Lehn will be joining our staff as Senior Pastor, Head of Staff. The February Your Link
will have the most recent information regarding Jeff and his family.

Our Session (our lay leaders) is in the process of adopting an operating budget for 2017 that is spiritually exciting
but financially challenging. They believe that God is calling us to do more.

In 2017, our day-to-day operating expenses are expected to increase, due primarily to higher ministry expenses
related to the hiring of Rev. Lehn. We must also sustain our building and campus. Our roofs are aging and in need
of serious attention and our parking lot should be replaced. The roof repair is a three-year project that will be funded
at $40,000 per year and the parking lot project is expected to be $80,000 this year. Session is also committed to
maintaining our mission-to-others spending which was $155,000.00 in 2016, and we anticipate the same amount for 2017.

What will it take to support our budget in 2017? A 13% increase per pledging unit is needed for us to accomplish
our ministry goals for this year. We are asking for a lot because we believe God is leading us to do a lot. We are
faithfully confident that we can fulfill this vision for the year ahead.

The practice of generosity is a faith discipline. Jesus talks more about money than any other topic.
Why? The use of our resources reflects the generosity of our hearts. God is generous to us and asks us to be generous.

Our hope is that, no matter what, you will pray for the ministry and mission of fpcw; that you will discuss the blessings of
generosity, and that you will, as you are able, make a 2017 pledge.

Thank you for being a partner in the ministry and the mission of our beloved church. Thank you for your past support
of fpcw. We hope you will increase your generosity in 2017. Our prayer is that fpcw will continue to be a place where faith
is passed on from generation to generation.

Blessings in Christ Jesus,
