Minister of Church Finances

Alice Belmont

"Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'" --Hebrews 13:5

March 2009 marked five years since I came to work at the First Presbyterian Church, and although my family worships and is heavily involved with the Christian family of St. Paul Lutheran church, I have to say I feel just as at home with all of you, as I do with them and my time spent at FPCW has been truly a blessing to me, as well as my family. I have come to know many of you and enjoy the chances I get to talk and work along side you.

As Minister of Finance, my job is to help you manage the finances of FPCW in a God pleasing manner. Along with the finance board, I make sure everything is done in accordance with the various laws and requirements of the government. I work closely with weekly volunteers who do the counting and computer entry work regarding contributions. The majority of my time is spent paying current bills, and producing monthly reports to keep track of income and expenses, however, one of the most important roles I do (at least some people think so) is producing the semi-monthly pay checks.

I received a Bachelor of Arts from Central Washington University in Education in 1977 and then returned to Central to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1985.

I can truly say I enjoy every aspect of my position, as well as the people I get a chance to work with on a daily basis. However, life is not all work and no play. My extracurricular time is spent with my family: husband Claton; son, David (a sophomore at the University of Idaho and also a Marine….he keeps me young at heart); and daughter, Susan (a researcher at Central Washington University…we enjoy her visits home with her husband Adrian. As a family, we enjoy camping, hiking, spending time with our family and friends, and reading (we own many books and frequent the library). One of my personal favorite hobbies is making quilts, and Claton and I often work on home improvement projects together.

God has truly blessed me with an amazing job and two great congregations of people to serve.
